About OWC Press
OWC Press exists to publish and distribute tribal legal materials. State and federal legal materials, most particularly statutes and court decisions, are readily available in law libraries, in legal research databases and on the internet.
Tribal legal materials, however, are not as easily located. Even when they are available, tribal materials are often no comprehensively indexed. OWC Press exists to remedy that problem.
OWC Press has developed an indexing and digesting system thath is comprehensive and tailored to tribal materials.
We are available to consult with tribal governments and tribal courts about organizing, publishing and distributing tribal legal materials, including (but not limited to) tribal codes, court decisions, and attorney general opinions.
Our services range from consulting to licensing the index system to compiling, publishing and distributing the final product.
Our fee depends on the services requested, the quantity of material involved and whether the materials are already in a useable electronic format. We are happy to speak with you about your needs and to provide a free quotation. Please contact us at tatum@otterworkcreations.com
Our brochure is also available for download in PDF format.
OWC Press is owned by Melissa Tatum, a law professor specializing in Indian law, particularly tribal courts. She has served as a judge for the Southwest Intertribal Court of Appeals and has written extensively on the power and authority of tribal courts.
